TBT: Brittany Howard at the Fillmore 9/27
Solo records are so difficult for a lot of artists. It’s a level of vulnerability and creative freedom that most musicians are almost uncomfortable having. It's truly a turning point in most artists’ careers where you really get to see what they have to say and if there is another layer to their art. For Brittany Howard, she has proven that her solo work might be her best piece of work yet. It’s delicate and vulnerable at times but cuts like a knife on heavy personal subjects. I am so happy I got to see these songs live, her vocals and nuances in her live arrangements made it one of my favorite sets so far in 2019.
